Get to know Joy John Wines
When was Joy John Wines established?
Joy John Wines was established in 2019, producing a barrel of Sangiovese in the Strathbogie Hills, VIC. Since snow balling each vintage from there, I am now self-proclaiming to be a boutique wine producer that now creates a Prosecco, Pinot Grigio, Rose', Sangiovese and Shiraz.
What regions do I source fruit from?
From 3 different wine regions. Purely based off the wine I like to drink myself. Selfish, yes! but convenient for you and I. My fruit reigns from Heathcote, VIC, The King Valley, VIC and The Mallee, VIC.

Get to know me
I am the female founder & winemaker of Joy John Wines. Along with my husband Ryan who is everything practical, sometimes on delivery, sometimes bottling, always encouraging my goals. We have two daughters. Nylah who is 9 and Queenie who is 8 who have not missed a bottling day. They are my motivation without these two little girls even knowing it.

The means behind the name
A very common question.
Joy is my Dad's Mother. Joy Kelly who passed at 99 years of age had 11 children and my Dad is lucky number 7 in line. She was a Western Australian girl who came over to the East to follow her sister, as we do and met her husband Kevin Kelly who survived WW2 and a whole lifetime after.
John is my Mum's Father. John Burns who gave my Mum squinty eyes when she smiles, and she gave them to me. Pop was an Avenel boy, trucked near every day of his life. Husband to Anne Burns, to me she is Mamma. A nurse in Nagambie, VIC who delivered my older brother Tom & I in the same room just a year apart.

I love making wine. I love the science behind wine. My goal for Joy John Wines is to always keep it boutique so I remain loving what I do, that to me is success.
